The States series further explores a direction of self-portraiture in which the subject is not specifically myself but rather the attributes I feel we all hold common. While he coins were a constituent of our actions and psyche, the US map is a literal depiction of the ground on which we stand. The intention is that when the entire map is shown at any location in the lower 48 states, the viewers would literally be included within, looking down on themselves from above.

Future plans for this series involve searching for a studio space and venue in which to assemble the entire map at once, something which has not been done yet. Slowly the individual pieces are spreading out to new places. Texas is in Houston, awaiting a sale, and Florida has been purchased by a gallery director in Brooklyn.
